You are here: About Us
Brigshaw is a popular choice for parents/carers and pupils reflecting the confidence they have in Brigshaw. Pupils come to us from Allerton Bywater, Kippax, Great Preston, Little Preston, Swillington, Micklefield, Methley, Garforth and the outer Leeds suburbs. We have around 1400 pupils on roll, including 200 in our Sixth Form.
We are a very successful school and we are rightly proud of our pupils’ achievements and the opportunities we offer. We all commit to giving 'Every Child Every Chance of Success, whatever it takes' and to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our students.
Brigshaw is:
An aspirational school: We really do want our children to have the best. The best teachers, the best opportunities, the best support, the best platform for adulthood. We nurture and develop key employability skills of leadership, literacy, international dimensions. Together with high examination results we give our pupils a chance to take their place equally in society.
A co-operative school: We live out our core values and the co-operative values in practice. Values such as solidarity, democracy, equity and self-responsibility are not just empty phrases at Brigshaw.
A talented school: We foster and nurture talent in all pupils, rather than just showing off the skills of a few. Our Creative Arts and Sports opportunities enable all pupils, whatever their ability or disability, to be inspired and achieve.
A caring school: We are part of a wonderful community who give generously to support others. Our pupils are an inspiration to us as they show such generosity of spirit and kindness to those suffering misfortune.
A partnership school: We work tirelessly to create effective links with our parent and carers, breaking down barriers and reinforcing positive attitudes to school. Our partnership with Brigshaw Trust primary schools has daily benefits for children, families and staff. There is always someone to help, someone to share ideas with, someone to inspire. Our Post-16 partnership with Temple Moor offers our older pupils a truly excellent stepping stone to adulthood, university and employment.
An inclusive school: We really do believe that every child matters. We know every child is unique and special and deserves a chance to thrive!
We are an ambitious school: There are no limits!
As you browse our website we are sure you will agree that Brigshaw really is an inspiring and rewarding place in which to learn and work.
