10 of our pupils and 1 pupil from Kippax North have competed in the National finals of the Great Big Dance off held in Wellingborough on Monday 3rd July. They managed to secure a place in the finals having won the regional heats back in February. The girls performed 9th in the first half of the competition with their piece 'One Love 9/11'.
The piece was choreographed by ex pupil Elle Anderson and was based around the grief of one little girl losing her dad in the 9/11 attacks. The piece was beautifully put together and followed the little girl's journey through life. There was not a dry eye in the Theatre when they performed on Monday and the girls received a standing ovation. Once all 18 schools had performed the results were announced and Brigshaw were crowned National champions with 288 points out of a possible 300, meaning they are the best in the country!
This is one of the biggest achievements creatively our school has had  and I personally could not be any more proud of each and every one of our pupils. Their hard work, dedication and passion for this piece has been outstanding and they have rehearsed every week since September.
The girls will now go on to appear in many of our local newspapers and we are hoping to reach out to some news channels as well.
Thank you to everyone who helped support me in the build up to this competition and I would like to welcome all parents to come and take a look at the trophy which will be proudly placed at the front of school from Tuesday 4th July. The girls will also perform in every house assembly next week so all of our pupils have the opportunity to see the piece.
