You are here: About Us » Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
At Brigshaw High School we are proud of our inclusive ethos and strive to promote all children to succeed in their education, become independent and resilient learners and support them in gaining the necessary social skills and life skills to be successful in their transition to adult life.
We aim to ensure all our pupils have access to an appropriate, broad and balanced curriculum. Staff use a range of strategies and resources to ensure work activities can be undertaken at different levels and in different ways to meet pupils' individual needs, providing a sense of achievement and self-esteem. Where appropriate, we provide additional provision outside the mainstream curriculum and we aim to identify pupils requiring this type of provision at the earliest opportunity. Provision and pupil progress are reviewed regularly by staff, parents/carers and pupils.
As a Resourced Provision for pupils with physical disabilities, we support children with SEND to access their learning and school life in an inclusive mainstream environment. Our campus has full disabled access including lifts, enabling all pupils to attend mainstream lessons. We regularly review our Accessibility Plan and provision and make reasonable adjustments.
Please Click the link for Brigshaw High School's SEND policy and local offer of support for pupils with SEND and the Leeds Local Authority offer of support for children with SEND.
The annual review of SEND at Brigshaw can be viewed here. Also the SEND information report can be viewed here.
The following policies are available on the policy page of the website and reflect the school’s commitment to the inclusion, safety and well-being of our children:
