Joining Brigshaw Sixth Form

We are accepting applications to our Sixth Form, please email Mrs Falk at falkk01@brigshawtrust.com to register your interest.

We would be delighted to welcome you to our successful Sixth Form. We welcome applications from all students, irrespective of their previous school or academy place of study. If you would like to join our Sixth Form, or have any queries regarding our Sixth Form, please contact Mrs Falk, Mr McCartney or Mrs Cherry. You can view the school admissions policy here.

Applications to Sixth Form can be made by clicking the button below. Alternatively, Brigshaw High School students can make their applications in Year 11 careers meetings held in school.

Courses and Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirement for our Sixth Form is that all students are required to achieve 5 or more standard GCSE passes or higher (grade 4 or higher). In addition, students will have to meet the subject specific entry requirements which may consist of a minimum GCSE grade. These grades can be found on each individual subject/course page.

We do offer resit qualifications in English Language and Maths where students have not yet achieved a grade 4, however it should be noted that resit courses do require additional curriculum time and can impact upon student timetables and study time required for A-Levels and other courses.

Our experience indicates that some courses will require significantly higher grades in order for students to competently access the course content and demands at A-Level and there may be exceptions to subject specific entry requirements. At enrolment, the Sixth Form team will use their professional judgement when deciding if a student can enrol onto a course without meeting the minimum GCSE grade. All external applicants will be subject to appropriate references from the respective schools and all applications will be considered on an individual basis.

The proposed curriculum for the academic year ahead will be discussed with applicants during the interview process, however the viability of all courses will depend upon student numbers and available resources. We reserve the right to make a final decision about course viability and allocation of resources in September.

We encourage students to choose their courses taking into account the range of  qualifications which we offer at our Sixth Form. These include A-Levels, vocational qualifications and the Extended Project Qualification, which attracts UCAS points. Students are also able to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
